This is a very good piece, especially on the day that people of the African diaspora celebrate Juneteenth. This post goes back to a similar article I read today on The Root called “Juneteenth 2012: When Did Slavery Really End?” http://www.theroot.com/views/slavery-ended-when-were-blacks-truly-free This is a time of celebration and reflection on the past, but it’s also a time to examine and be critical of the current state of Black America.
